ABSTRACT 

Fenomena Bapak tunggal menjadi salah satu bentuk perubahan struktur keluarga yang semakin banyak ditemukan dalam masyarakat. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan Bapak menjalankan peran ganda sebagai pencari nafkah sekaligus pengasuh utama anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis praktik pengasuhan yang dilakukan Bapak tunggal di Desa Kalisat, Kecamatan Kalisat, Kabupaten Jember. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Informan penelitian terdiri atas lima orang Bapak tunggal yang dipilih secara purposive. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Bapak tunggal menjalankan fungsi pengasuhan melalui pemberian nasihat, pengawasan perilaku, pendidikan agama, dan pengendalian pergaulan anak. Modal sosial, modal ekonomi, dan budaya masyarakat memiliki pengaruh terhadap praktik pengasuhan yang dilakukan. Keterbatasan waktu akibat tuntutan pekerjaan menjadi tantangan utama dalam pengasuhan. Perspektif habitus Pierre Bourdieu menunjukkan bahwa praktik pengasuhan dipengaruhi oleh habitus, modal, dan ranah sosial yang dimiliki Bapak.
