Abstract:
UPT Social Services Tresna Werdha Banyuwangi is an orphanage for the East Java
Province Social Service which provides services to neglected elderly who have tasks
in the fields of sponsorship, rehabilitation, assistance, guidance, development and
resocialization. This HSO-based institution or Human Service Organization plays an
important role in efforts to maintain and increase self-capacity (capacity building)
by forming or changing the personal attributes of the elderly by adjusting their
ability to accept the services provided. The purpose of this study was to examine and
describe the implementation of the skills guidance program on the maintenance of
the social functioning of the elderly. This research approach is descriptive
qualitative using data collection techniques of non-participatory observation, semi-
structured interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis begins with data
collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results
of this study describe the process of intervention in the skills guidance program
which is carried out by providing assistance and guidance through technical and
non-technical activities such as training in making handicrafts, building
relationships between the elderly, worship habits, and others. In conclusion, the
implementation of the skill guidance program intervention at UPT Tresna Werdha
Banyuwangi Social Services went according to plan and had an impact on achieving
improvements in the social functioning of the elderly. What the implementing unit
needs to do in improving the skills guidance program is by establishing cooperation
with external parties who can fully support the development or progress of the skills
guidance program.
